Drawing on traditional folk songs from across the British Isles, Harry Li seeks to craft distinctly melodic and lyrical songs that resonate with his audience. Having been raised on the music of the 19th century and early 20th century romantic composers from an early age, Harry delved into folk music during his teenage years, exploring Irish and Scottish music in particular.
As an acoustic guitarist, he is influenced by both the Celtic fingerstyle playing of the Tony McManus, as well as the classical guitar playing of Julian Bream; whereas from a songwriting perspective, he is influenced by contemporary artists, such as Jim Moray, Laura Marling, Gnoss and Iona Fyfe (as well as Oasis and the Beatles to some extent!).
Regarding his lyrics, the universal themes of love, longing for home, and a sense of place are of great importance, not least as they have a universal quality, having inspired the olden songs he so admires.
Harry aspires to record and release an EP at some point in the near future, so that his music can be shared amongst a wider audience. But, until that time, he hopes you thoroughly enjoy this recording.
