Agatewards is an old northern word also used in Lincolnshire that means to walk a while with someone on the way home.

It felt quite appropriate for this compilation. Not only are we walking a little way with Tennyson and the characters in his Lincolnshire dialect poems, we’re spending a bit of time together travelling through the music that was inspired by them.

The voices you can hear in the tunes are Mr Edward Campion and Mrs Edith Burgess. Both were leading authorities on the Lincolnshire dialect in their time and they recorded some of Tennyson’s Lincolnshire dialect poetry in the late 1960s and early 1970s. I found some of these recordings at a record fair in Chesterfield a few years ago.. Of course, I bought them on the spot - and fell in love with them on listening.

Tennyson lived the first 28 years of his life in the heart of agricultural Lincolnshire, though he left the county in 1837. Of course, his time there left a deep impression on him, and while these poems were written in the latter part of the 19th Century, they are rich in language and observation - and humour. They are a wonderfully evocative time-capsule not only of the dialect, but of ordinary people’s lives. I’ve barely scratched the surface in the words I’ve used in these tunes.

I’ve had a lot of fun creating these little pieces while dipping into the history and dialect of my home county. There will certainly be more to come...

This is most certainly an album, containing music.

Moose Factory’s debut album; the instrumentalisation is experimental, appealing, sonically charged and creatively ambitious. The lyrics lie anywhere between introspective and surprisingly thought provoking, to bizarre rants and ‘Edmogrification’ (we’re still not quite sure what that is).

That said, it is such an entertaining and engaging album. Individually, the tracks may well lead to confusion. But somehow, these talented lads from Louth have put together a 24 track album that doesn’t outstay its welcome, and always brings something new and interesting; in every song and every playthrough.

It’s pretty neat, give it a go, it might just change your life.

Jack is returning to his roots, with an acoustic demo that evokes that classic Kendrick energy with fresh new material.

A taste of things to come, these songs give us an idea for what Jack is cooking with his upcoming solo album. Punchy choruses, powerful lyrics and inspired musical accompaniment; this is the start of a new chapter for Jack’s solo endeavours. While he’s delivering a loud, raw sound with the Broken Wonders, this demo proves he still has what it takes to strip it all back and pull on the heartstrings.

It’s not the Same, but Similar.

A year before Jack Kendrick’s debut album - Same Mistakes - was recorded with his then-new band The Broken Wonders, Jack recorded all of the tracks solo. After some time however, these recordings were misplaced and presumed lost, so Jack re-recorded the album with the full band for the album we’ve all come to love.

A few weeks before the album’s first anniversary however, the lost original take of the album was discovered, so in time for the anniversary we have tidied the album up and are thrilled to present this original, alternative and unseen version, aptly titled ‘Similar Mistakes’.

Featuring alternative arrangements, different versions and a previously unreleased track, this album is a must for any fan of Jack’s first album. This album also won’t be available online, so grab a copy while they’re available!

The Songs of a Rambling Yellowbelly #1 is a pipedream that has come into being. It is the result of one of Lincoln-based lyricist, Rupert Ibbotson, bequeathing five sets of lyrics to one of Lincoln-based musician, Kev Hackney, tasking him with setting the lyrics to music, thus creating an album. This album.

Spending 2 days in the Yellowbelly studio with producer Cullen Gaskell, Kev took those lyrics and created wonderful music to accentuate the stories crafted by Rupert. With his wonderfully fresh abilities on guitar, and a silky smooth voice that anyone can fall in love with, Kev transformed these tales into songs for the ages.

On this album we also included the first demos that Kev recorded for these songs. Featuring different takes, instrumentation and alternate lyrics, you can truly get a sense of the musical journey Kev took with these songs.

The new Special Limited-Edition EP from Adele Wilkinson!

Time To Say Goodbye is the new single from Adele Wilkinson from her upcoming album, and after such a great response from media and fans alike, we decided to put together a special limited-edition EP to celebrate the occassion. There are only 10 of these, and we aren’t going to be reprinting them, so make sure you grab one fast!

Adele’s new material is taking a similar approach to that seen on her previous album, ‘Light’, but with many new twists and experiments along the way. Leaning slightly more into the proggy and experimental side with some new synths and darker tones, the single demonstrates this new direction brilliantly. Still as catchy as ever, Adele’s evolving sound is a joy to behold.

Alongside the single are some extra treats. ‘It’s Over’ is a track from Adele’s back catalog that was previously somewhat an outlier, but matches perfectly with the new direction of the new single, so we’ve remastered the song with Adele and paired them together on this release. Released alongside the digital release of Time To Say Goodbye, ‘Sun is Shining’ and ‘Make Life Make Sense’ are two live tracks recorded at the launch event for ‘Light’, and we’ve also included the live version of ‘Forget About It’ exclusively into this EP as well.

There are only 10, hand-numbered copies of this EP available, so make sure you grab yours today!

1. Time To Say Goodbye

2. It’s Over

3. Sun Is Shining (Live)

4. Make Life Make Sense (Live)

5. Forget About It (Live)

Recorded and mixed by Adele Wilkinson, produced and published by Yellowbelly Records.
