My name is Rob. I live in the beautiful historic city of Lincoln.  I have a fantastic job in the NHS with lots of amazing colleagues but that’s all you need to know about that.

I am a guitarist, songwriter and performer. My grandfather played in accordion band in Sheffield in the 1930’s and my father taught keyboards and performed in amateur operatics.

My influences are therefore many and various; from 60’s pop and rock, music hall and show tunes, to country, folk rock, folk and blues. I use standard guitar tuning as well as drop D, open G, and, from Martin Carthy,  EADEAE and CGCGCD. I’ve not got round to DAGGAD yet!

The subject matter comes from my own personal and family history, politics the news, invented characters and situations and pure whimsy. Lyrically, I am a magpie, stealing from literature, poetry and the Bible (whatever your beliefs, its a cracking good read with fantastic imagery for the budding songwriter).

Why BARDISHISH? I have stolen sayings from many authors, including a reasonable amount from Shakepeare. Bardish therefore means relating to the bard and Bardishish meand relating to relating to the bard. I decided the latter  sounds rhythmically better and reduces the degree of arrogance.

“Face those slings and arrows, be of high renown. Don’t let the bastards get you down” (Don’t let the bastards get you down)
