In the early years Austin T, a nickname given to him because of his cowboy shirts ( T for Texas), went off to Lincoln to try his luck but was often forced to take on many other odd jobs to carry him through.
He had started to play guitar many years ago, had played at many "house parties", but had never made music his profession.
After some of his friends persuaded him to record one of those discs in an amusement gallery - where you can have your voice recorded for £10 - he made ‘Just Around Midnight’, which he sent off to Yellowbelly Records.
Austin was pleasantly surprised when a few days later he received a telegram asking him to come to Lincoln to record some numbers. His unique style, both vocally and on the guitar, made him very popular and his records were on most jukeboxes throughout Lincoln.
Music has now become his full-time occupation and with it came a rather hectic, frantic life of which he does not have any memories.
Austin met many of his contemporaries such as Vin Samson, Drew Dawg, Lloyd Hub & Rudy Bongo. He played local gigs and went on tours, and with all this came the urge to conform, but he refused.
He got a band together, Yellowbelly Records latched on to his talents and are continuing to record Austin T.
