Amateur Ghost are overgrown emos with overgrown egos based in Lincoln, UK.
Waaay back in 2017, Leigh, Mark and Jonny had the incredibly original idea of starting a pop/punk covers band, heavily influenced by the likes of early 2000s emo and too many hours of playing Tony Hawk. However, they soon realised that their creative outlet needed more, and started writing their own songs.
Along came Alan (Hey!) on drums and a brand new band was born. Along with a definite sound they’re aiming for, all four members bring their own ideas to the floor: Leigh with his A Day To Remember chugging, Mark with his classic walking bass lines reminiscent of punk bands like Alkaline Trio, Jonny with his lighter jangly punk like The Offspring (and NWA), and Alan coming from a post-hardcore past with bands like Hundred Reasons as reference.
Always aiming to make music that’s fun and interesting, and that people can dance to, Amateur Ghost are determined to make 2022 a bang average year.
Oh, FYI: they play in drop-C.
